![]() ![]() ![]() | 2010 Canterbury 10 day forecast Maple Weekend! March 27th and 28th This so far has been the strangest maple season in our experience. Even on nights with a light freeze, we've had few decent sap runs. Producers who use vacuum have had a decent year while those of us relying on gravity are looking at a very poor year. Some of our neighbors have already started cleanup for the year! The good news is the forecast has some cold nights coming up and if the sap runs, we could still make some syrup here at the end. We're supposed to get a good freeze Friday night so we should get a sap run on Saturday to boil on Sunday. So here's the schedule for the weekend: Saturday, open 10 until 4 for sales only. Sunday, open 10 until 4, hopefully boiling all day, hayrides 12 until 3. Weekend schedule (Starting March 13) We are open from 10 am until 4 pm. Call (603) 783-9226 for more specific information. Gathering Sap On some mornings we will open early to take visitors out to gather sap with the horses at around 9:30 am. We will usually not know until Friday which days we will be going. Hayrides and Sleighrides The horses are starting to show their age (not us though) so I plan to cut back on their hours some depending somewhat on snow conditions. Call ahead for times. Cost is $3.00 per person. Syrup We will be boiling syrup whenever sap is available. This is totally dependent on the weather. To have sap to boil on the weekend look for lows in the 20's and highs above 40 on Thursday and Friday. We also do candy making and sugar on snow.
